RHODODENDRON 'Cynosure'
|
Hybridized/Introduced By: Shapiro hybrid Parentage: ('Essex Scarlet' x fortunei)
Description: Pioneer rhododendron breeders Ben and Marion Shapiro considered this their best plant. Over time many growers have come to this same conclusion. It is a medium sized plant, wider than tall, that buds up heavily. It blooms in late May and has proven to do well in sun, but also sets buds in deep shade. The full pink trusses have a distinctive rust colored flare in the throat of each flower. This is a “must have” plant from the legacy of the Shapiros. Do you you know the meaning of "cyno-sure"? Look it up.
