RHODODENDRON 'Charles Loomis'
|
Hybridized/Introduced By: John Thornton Parentage: ('English Roseum' X hyperythrum)
Description: Get ready for global warming! John Thornton from Louisiana has been hybridizing for heat tolerance through the extensive use of the species hyperythrum. Our own plant, sitting in 80% sun with typically 20 to 40 days above 90°F never shows any ill effects. Flowers are rounded trusses emerging first as blush pink and quickly fading to white, much like yak hybrids. The foliage is narrow and recurved. The plant retains its leaves for 3 to 4 years. Buds heavily. This one will take rough treatment.
