ACER palmatum 'Shaina'
|
Description: This relatively new variety has created a tremendous amount of excitement in the plant world. It is a witches broom from Acer palmatum 'Bloodgood.' Like other brooms, it has the middle lobe
rounded and shorter than the rest, the result being quite a
unique leaf shape. The bright red leaves, about the size of
quarters, are held close to the stem, creating an interesting
effect. This dwarf red globe, which can take full sun, is a good choice for patios or rock gardens. The autumn foilage is scarlet.
