RHODODENDRON 'Capistrano'
|
Hybridized/Introduced By: Leach Parentage: ('Hindustan' X [([catawbiense, whiteflowered x (fortunei ssp. discolor x Fabia Group)] x ['Russell H
Description: Its complex parentage reveals the long and diligent effort David Leach invested over many years to create a good yellow, finally introducing 'Capistrano' in 1997. From bud stage to finish, the color is pure medium to light yellow on a full and dome-shaped truss about the size and shape of 'Roseum Elegans'. In mid-May, the dense, mounded plant is covered with trusses which are in pleasing proportion to the medium green leaves. Consider planting 'Capistrano' as a complement to mid season reds or purples such as 'Rangoon', 'Vulcan's Flame', 'Very Berry' or 'Purple Passion'
