R. (AZALEA) DECIDUOUS 'Lady Barbara'
|
Parentage: (cumberlandense (formerly known as bakeri) x arborescens)
Description: A great shrub for the summer garden! Grown out in full sun, ‘Lady Barbara’ produces a compact rounded shrub of 4-5 feet, with leaves that have a beautiful blue-green cast. The flowers bloom over a three-week period during July and are a pink reminiscent of the arborescens parent. We believe the original cross was done by Gable and has been around for a while, unnamed and under- appreciated. Betty Cummins, who named this plant, combined the two parts of the cross to get the “Barbara” part of the name.
