ACER palmatum 'Okushimo'
|
Description: The original 'Crispum'. This very desirable cultivar is unique in a few ways: the odd-shaped leaves, the unusual fall color, and its sweeping upright growth habit. The leaves are very dark green, deeply lobed and rolled upward, almost tube-like. The fall color is an intense yellow gold that is almost fluorescent at times. The
growth habit is vase shaped, not round topped or umbrella
shaped as are most of the other palmatums. It will tolerate
pruning and shaping to confine it to smaller areas but should
never need this because of its slow growth habit. Mature
plants are 12 feet.
