R. (AZALEA) DECIDUOUS 'Turquoise and Gold'
|
Hybridized/Introduced By: Ron Rabideau/RareFind Nursery Parentage: (Goldfinch Open Pollinated)
Description: Our origination and first time offering. Ron grew some open pollinated seedlings from the old Knap Hill hybrid 'Goldfinch' some years back and this seedling distinguished itself early on several counts, originally earning the garden name "Stout" due to its thick, stocky branches. Extremely fragrant bright yellow flowers with some orange in the buds occur just before and with the leaves. Habit is rounded and full with little pruning. The leaves are relatively large at 4-6 inches long, and extremely glaucous (blue), hence the name. Leaves are almost as blue as Zenobia! Mildew resistant foliage.
