R. (AZALEA) DECIDUOUS viscosum 'Betty Cummins'
|
Hybridized/Introduced By: Lewis
Description: Dave Lewis found this great pink form of viscosum growing along the side of a central New Jersey road. Someone had thrown away an old toilet seat nearby, so he had a landmark when it was time to come back for cuttings! For many years, he called the plant
"Old Toilet Seat" until he decided to register it and had to pick a better name. Betty Cummins received the justified recognition for her many years as an excellent propagator of native azaleas and nurserywoman who brought many new varieties to market. Thank you, Betty and Dave, for all you have done for rhododendrons.
