R. (AZALEA) DECIDUOUS calendulaceum
|
Parentage: (species seedlings)
Description: Possibly the easiest native azalea to identify with its orange to red and yellow flowers occurring before or with the leaves. The other
azaleas of this color like bakeri and prunifolium are much later
blooming, and the flowers of the Flame Azalea are more widely
funnel-shaped than austrinum, which is more tubular. The
flowers are covered on the outside with many tiny hairs.
