GENISTA sagittalis
|
Description: This native of Europe is a broom with wings, or phyllodes, which are highly developed petioles that basically serve the same function as leaves. It requires a sunny spot in the garden, but is not picky regarding soil type. Due to its low, spreading habit and unique character, it is not a suitable candidate for the front of the border. It is best displayed on a sunny ledge of a rock garden, where it can spread and hang over showing off its heads of bright
yellow flowers and winged stems.
