Solidago (Goldenrod) Say “goldenrod,” and many people think of an aggressive plant that is said to cause hay fever. Yes, some ARE weedy, but many others are not, and none of them are major sources of wind-borne pollen. (Ragweed is the real culprit!) European gardeners have valued goldenrod for decades, and American gardeners are slowly becoming appreciative as well. Goldenrods are easy to grow, great for dry to moist soils in sunny areas. The clump-formers are well-behaved in gardens, and the spreading types make good groundcovers for difficult sites. Try some today!
