R. (azalea) Evergreen
EVERGREEN AZALEAS Many nurseries offer evergreen azaleas, some in great numbers. We offer them too, but try to limit the selection to those that we think have unique qualities. Even so, over the last two years we have tripled the number of evergreen azaleas in our catalog. Our list consists of those azaleas that not only have interesting or spectacular flowers, but also have the foliage and growth habits that make them good additions to the landscape throughout the year. Note that many of the size measurements are horizontal for low growers.

(C8) Blooms early to mid-May. The flowers are deep red, waxy, textured singles, rich in color and substance. Foliage is large and textured and turns dark red in the fall. An exceptional new introduction. more info

(C8) Blooms mid-May. Flowers are large (3.5 inch), double, hose in hose. Color is light purplish pink, witha small red blotch. Habit is low and dense. One of the best growing Gartrells. more info

R. (AZALEA) EVERGREEN 'Opal'
(C8) The 2.5" dark pink double flowers and a low growing plant habit are very nice. It is the earliest double-flowered azalea to bloom in the spring, and more importantly, it puts on a dependable fall show right up to the hard frosts. more info

(C) The name says it: the flower is cup shaped and as close to orange one can get in an evergreen azalea. Good dark green foliage. Upright in stature, and hardier than commonly thought. more info
