Edgeworthia
"Rice Paper Plant" These Asian daphne relatives are small shrubs usually under 5 feet. Leaves are attached in whorls at the ends of the stout branches lending an almost tropical look. Very fragrant flowers are arranged in dense clusters at the branch tips and open over a long period of time before the leaves emerge. Several forms/culivars have appeared over the last 10 years, complete information about them is still relatively unknown. Hardiness seems to be Zone 7, several plants are growing successfully for several years at the Scott Arboretum in Swarthmore PA.
